Standing in Tesco supermarket in Holyhead a few years ago I became aware of someone next to me with an amazing blue sapphire ring. Yes it was Kate and that ring left me speechless, not just because of the beauty but the history too.
Gosh, the visit to Gerrard really could not have been more dreamy, it was absolutely transporting! Such a special treat to enjoy the Queen Mary suite and tea! The tiaras were a little heart stopping! All, just so Quintessentially British. Thank you for sharing this, as always you do, with the most lovely grace, kindness and laughter. xo
I love the idea of keeping engagement rings and other jewelry pieces as heirlooms... passing on the love of jewelry along with the actual jewels!
I personally don’t think there’s anything wrong in your engagement/wedding bands evolving! I have been married for 32 years and I’m on my third set! We had minimal funds back then, and my husband wanted to one day present me with the ring I’d dreamed of back then! Why not I say, and if it fills your heart with joy then go for it! Creating heirlooms that can be passed down the generations is what’s a wonderful thought also…enjoy.x

The whole point of a wedding & engagement ring is what they mean. They symbolise your love & trust in each other,it doesn’t matter what they cost. I’ve been married for 40 years & even though we’re better off financially now ,I would never change my rings.
I’m not a fan personally of upgrading your engagement ring as it’s very special getting engaged in the first place and what you picked back then is a beautiful reminder of when and where you got engaged. I got proposed to in Paris and my ring was bought in the Gucci shop there, so I have great memories of looking at the ring not knowing I was gonna be proposed to, to which I got proposed to along the river Seine to then being told ‘right let’s go back to the Gucci shop and get that ring you were looking at’!!! I can remember every minute of it. I’m sentimental so my views are different but not knocking you, it’s just how I personally feel.
The shoes are lovely, very Vivienne Westwood vibes……..which I’ve never seen you wear since you bought them! X

Lydia, grow all the corn. If you dont use it right away, just slice off the kernels from the Cobb and then freeze the kernels. I do this every fall. And all throughout winter, i have corn chowders, or corn muffins or corn added to soups etc. They freeze beautifully ❤

I love pink on you, you look fresh, younger and happy. The burgundy shoes if one sees them at store would not look at them, but you styled it so good that it looks very different and like a jewel. White jeans makes one look so classy and expensive

Yes Hermès makes several types of scarf rings, and they’re all on the website and available for *anyone* to purchase. They’re abt the price of a twilly… $240-$260 in the US if I remember right. The styling examples are there as well.

I felt the same about my engagement ring - my style changed (we were engaged for 16 years) and although I had a huge sentimental attachment to it, it didn't fit my style and I didn't love the way it looked.
I designed my wedding ring with a bespoke jeweller and used the stones etc from my engagement ring to make it. I love it, and it incorporates my past, present and future along with keeping the sentimentality.
My favorite mornings (I live in the US) are the mornings I get a Lydia notification. I agree with changing rings. I have been married for 11 years and I’m on my 3rd ring.

That's so sweet if you can afford to grow and change with your rings why not I love the idea of keeping them to hand down to your kids or loved ones but I know my mother in law offered me to choose between 4 or 5 of her rings and her grandmother rings engagement 😊 and I did choose her great grandmother's white and yellow gold band with diamonds in the middle but because at the time we couldn't afford our own I love that I have a peice of history but I love that my hubby is able to get me a new one now and will treasure them both 😊❤I like the history of it all very cute!! Older lady floral not sure exactly what you mean by that but I do hope you are not saying that if you are an older lady you have a certain smell, ladies over 60, 70, or 80 are mature women and a lot of us have daughters and grand daughters who keep us up to date with whats what. Garrard is historic and makes beautiful pieces, but it is not the oldest jeweler in the world. That crown belongs to Mellerio in Paris, dating to 1613. It's still family owned and currently run by the 14th and 15th generation Mellerio. They created jewelry for kings and queens of the world, beginning with Marie-Antoinette.

We all have our beliefs on things and can make our own decisions so I don’t see why there would be judgement either way. I love my engagement setting so we (my husband and I) made my wedding band to match the style but recently we changed the shape and size of the diamond. I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. No matter what your ring is, either the original or upgrade…it will still be an heirloom because someone who inherits it, got it from you. I can’t wait to see what you change it to, if you decide to do so ☺️
